news 7 Penningtons Manches reports fee income

growth as it moves into new Guildford office Law firm Penningtons Manches, which is growing across the UK and in its new US operations, has reported an increase of more than 23% in fee income in the latest financial year

Turnover has climbed to £57.5 million, representing a significant rise from 2013-2014 when fee income was £46.6 million. Overall profit has risen by more than 40%.

These new figures reinforce a period of steady growth for the firm, which was joined by the partners and staff of Manches in October 2013 and has now posted an increase in turnover for the sixth consecutive year. During this time the number of partners has risen from 55 to 110. The number of lawyers and other professional advisers at the firm has currently reached 355.

The latest results were bolstered by a strong performance by the Surrey team which recently moved into prestigious new offices at 31 Chertsey Street, Guildford that were

formally opened by the deputy mayor of Guildford, councillor Gordon Jackson on July 14. He and the deputy mayoress, Mrs Sue Jackson were warmly welcomed by Penningtons Manches chief executive, David Raine, and the firm’s Guildford partners and staff.

Since Penningtons Manches’ first foray into Guildford in 2012, the firm has increasingly been recognised as a ”South East regional heavyweight”. The addition of four new corporate, family and clinical negligence partners at the end of 2014 strengthened the directory-ranked corporate team led by Simon Bickerdike and the top-tier clinical negligence team led by Philippa Luscombe as well as establishing

a family law practice led by ex-Mundays partner Veronica Gilmour. In 2015, real estate lawyer Tony Burns joined the Guildford office from a City firm to further strengthen the commercial property team led by Tim Davies.

David Raine, chief executive of Penningtons Manches LLP, said: ”This is a particularly exciting time in Guildford as we continue to lay the foundations for future growth while maintaining the high

standards of client service by which our lawyers are recognised.

”Bringing our Guildford and Godalming staff together in 31 Chertsey Street will create a Surrey legal powerhouse for our clients with access to some of the region’s leading lawyers under one roof. Our move is a strong signal of our long term commitment to provide a first class legal service to businesses and private individuals in Guildford and throughout the South East.”
