PROJECTS & CONTRACTS 29

India’s first mechanical pulping line for ITC Bhadrachalam

of high-brightness board grades has been ordered from Austria’s Andritz by ITC Bhadrachalam in Telangana Province. The BCTMP fibre line will have

capacity to produce 300 tons a day when it is started up in the third quarter of 2016. The project comprises a fibre

line with 2-stage refining to ensure lowest possible energy consumption and high fibre quality, as well as a two-stage bleaching system with minimum chemical consumption. Six counter-current washing stages reduce contaminants so that exceptionally clean pulp can be produced at low chemical oxygen

News in brief

Following the start-up of Zhejiang Jingxing Paper’s TM1 tissue machine in January, a second Andritz line with a steel yankee has been started up at its Pinghu City mill. The PrimeLineST C8 machine has a design speed of 1,900 m/min with a width of 2.85 m. The 5.5m Yankee with its head insulation and the steam-heated hood, enables a high drying capacity with reduced energy costs.

demand. In addition, the Andritz washing technology keeps fresh water consumption and effluent levels to a minimum. The new fibre line uses available synergies with the existing

eucalyptus pulping line at ITC Bhadrachalam. The effluent will be evaporated, the clean condensate re-used, and the white liquor from the kraft mill will be used as alkali source in the new BCTMP fibre line.

Dutch paper maker Parenco BV is converting its PM2 line from newsprint to produce testliner and fluting grades, which are used in containerboards, including the installation of an OptiWin high-capacity wider from Valmet. The PM2 line, one of two at Renkum, was shut down in 2009 following a decline in demand for newsprint. With a trim width of 8.5m the line will have capacity of 385,000 tonnes per year when its starts up in the third quarter of 2016.

Packaging and handling systems for SCA’s Mannheim mill

A complete roll handling and packaging system has been installed at SCA’s mill at Mannheim in Germany. Italy’s A.Celli Group was

project supervisor for the four line project, which included feasibility, technical progress and customization. “A.Celli was a reliable,

competent partner,” said SCA, a leading global hygiene and forest products company based

in Stockholm. “It followed this project for us, immediately identifying our needs in terms of handling, and resolving any problem quickly and effectively, applying the utmost attention and showing great expertise in safety and automation.” SCA’s sales in 2014 were €11.4 billion, and Germany is its biggest market with sales of €1.26bn.
