Rebuild for Catalonia tissue manufacturer
S
panish paper maker ISMA 2000 SL is having a paper making line at La Torre de
Claramunt, near Barcelona, rebuilt by Toscotec, in association with Milltech. The rebuilt PM1 machine is expected to be restarted at the beginning of 2016.
ISMA 2000 SL has operations
in Catalonia and in the Balearic Islands. Its main business is at Barcelona where it makes and processes tissue products, while in Mallorca the activity is focused on the collection and recovery of waste paper. Key products are made from 100 per cent recycled
package. This will feature a new TT SYD-3600MM provided with Toscotec-patented head insulation, a new Yankee steam and condensate system and a SMART-type Duo-system Yankee hood, from Milltech. Engineering, training start up and commissioning services are also included in the package. The aim of the rebuild is to
increase the production and the performance of the crescent former machine to 90 tons per day. Says Fernando Luz, ISMA 2000’s

White liquor handling system for Skärblacka mill
BillerudKorsnäs is having a white liquor handling system installed at its pulp mill in Skärblacka, Sweden, by Valmet. The Skärblacka mill develops and produces a range of products, from highly porous sack paper to fluting and white machine glazed kraft paper. Production capacity is 430,000 tonnes/year. The new equipment includes a
PDW filter and a causticizer tank. The filter produces a clear white liquor that increases the efficiency and availability in the pulping process. The white liquor from lime mud is separated by pressure filtration. After the rebuild the plant will have a capacity of 5,200 cubic metres per day. “Previously Valmet delivered a recovery boiler rebuild and a
general manager, “This rebuild completes the one already initiated in the phase of pulp treatment, allowing us to use complex raw material with high quality fibres and increasing efficiency and reducing energy consumption.”
new evaporation plant to the Skärblacka mill. This upgrade will enable a production capacity increase, as existing equipment
has become too small and is in a need of extensive maintenance,” says Thomas Malmqvist, sales manager for
Pulp and Energy at Valmet. BillerudKorsnäs employs about 4,300 at eight production facilities.
