Chains that meet challenging paper industry needs
its challenging operational environments, Tsubakimoto offers a range of drive chains and sprockets, couplings and reduction gearboxes, the latest of which is Lambda chain. Lambda chain features oil-
T
impregnated sintered bushes that don’t require external lubrication which are said to dramatically extend the wear-life of the chain. This can be matched with a drive chain sprocket that has a deep
hardened surface providing excellent wear resistance for a long service life.
The chain is said to reduce
the total cost of ownership (TCO) and improve productivity
and profitability. Derek Mack, sales director for
Tsubaki UK, comments: “Tsubaki invests heavily in R&D and offers a wide range of products which have been designed for all types of
Disperser filling improves fibre treatment
Following the completion of 25 test installations in paper mills, a new disperser filling developed to ensure improved fibre treatment over a long service life has been launched by Voith Paper. TheWall is made of an especially
strong material and can be integrated into all current Voith dispersers and in selected
dispersers of other manufacturers. For use by tissue, newsprint and
magazine paper manufacturers as well as board and packaging paper producers, TheWall features a number of key innovations. On the inner circle, the rotor
vanes ensure that the stock can be fed uniformly to the distributing teeth. The new design also has a
continuous functional barrier between the individual working edges of the filling. This prevents the stock from passing through untreated (short circuit flow) and gives the fine rows of teeth more stability. Another new feature is that the operating gap is adjustable in a wide range without impairing the efficiency of the disperser. Thus the energy input can be kept constant over the service life of the filling. At the same time, TheWall uses less energy than conventional disperser fillings while offering the same technological results. Some of the customers with
test installations ordered TheWall before completion of the test phase, says Voith, and will use them as standard equipment. More information from Voith at

o meet the particular power-transmission demands of the paper industry and
industries and environments. This means that for most applications, even traditional hard wearing ones, we are able to specify a solution which will last many times longer than a basic chain. We will conduct a site visit prior to specification to make sure that we understand the unique requirements of every job and can offer an accurate estimate for our chain’s TCO.” Tsubaki’s latest brochure is

Production line in Finland for resins and polymers
A new strength resins and solutions polymers production line has been started up by Kemira in its paper chemical site at Äetsä in Finland. Starting in April, ramp-up of the
production capacity has been successful resulting in high product quality and performance, says Kemira. The new plant serves Kemira’s
customers in both the Paper and O&M segments in the Nordics, Western Russia and Eastern European rim and strengthens its capabilities in the growth areas. Strength products will respond to the growing demand of tissue, packaging boards and speciality papers. More information from Antti
