edge flutter or vibrations and is suitable for heavy or lightweight grades. A special design also is available for porous webs. • HPC Dryer: The HPC compact air flotation dryer doubles the airflow of a conventional air flotation dryer through a unique configuration of air flotation airbars supplemented by an equal number of hole impingement airbars. This increases performance by a proven 30 per cent or more whilst the high heat transfer potential, resulting in shorter


machine lengths, is particularly effective for drying applications where space is limited such as online coat drying on paper machines. Width capability is up to 10 metres. • ModuleDryer: By providing simultaneous non-contact turning and drying, performance within a particular space is maximised. The ModuleDyer combines the non-contact web turning capability of the Air Turn with the heat transfer capability of a high performance air flotation dryer. Says Fairhurst: “The strength

Heat-resistant dryer fabrics launched by Voith


Two new heat-resistant dryer fabrics have been launched by Voith. Pyrox and PyroxHigh are part of the CleanWeave family of dryer fabrics and were specifically designed for dryer sections with moderately high temperatures. Pyrox fabrics are made


from a blend of hydrolysis resistant PPS and abrasion resistant PET materials. Like the entire CleanWeave product family, Pyrox and PyroxHigh is produced from SynStron yarn,


a material developed by Voith that is especially suited for the challenging conditions of the dryer section. The proven weave structure of CleanWeave dryer fabrics is incorporated in Pyrox and PyroxHigh. It offers a low internal void volume and minimum yarn crossover points, ensuring reduced contamination within the fabric. The compact fabric structure simplifies cleaning of the surface to ensure


constant permeability. All CleanWeave products from
