A FORMER pupil at Cornwallis Academy died after her car hit a wall in Hunton, a Maidstone inquest heard. Carer Nicole Parnell (22), of Grove Lane, Hunton was driving home


from work when her Peugeot 307 crashed into thewall at the junction of Hunton Hill and Lughorse Lane on December 19 last year. She suffered severe head injuries and her life support machine was switched off at King’s College Hospital, London 11 days later. Accident investigator PCAndrew Sutherland told the inquest one of

A BOXLEY man who assaulted a woman and drove his Porsche dangerously has been told he will go to jail if he re-offends. Surjit Deol admitted the assault


but denied dangerous driving in Old Tovil Road, Maidstone, last year, butwas found guilty of both offences. Deol (47), from Westfield Sole


Road, was sentenced at Dartford and Gravesham Magistrates’ Court to 16 weeks in prison, sus- pended for two years, and dis- qualified from driving for 18 months. He was also ordered to do 150


hours of unpaid work during the next 12 months and to pay £100 compensation, £650 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.


£865 charge for flytipping


COMMERCIAL business owners have beenwarned about flytipping, following a successful prosecution by Maidstone Council. Ramazan Sasmaz, of Starburger


onWeek Street,was ordered to pay £865 after being found guilty of fly- tipping and failing to deal appro- priately with commercial waste. Sasmaz was fined £350 for fly-tip- ping and £180 for failing to securely store commercial waste. He must also pay £300 costs and a £35 victim


surcharge. He was convicted at Maidstone Magistrates Court after breaching a Maidstone Council notice. A council spokesman said:


“Every business has a legal respon- sibility when it comes to disposing of commercial waste. It should be collected by a licensed waste car- rier.”
