Florida Fair News The Florida State Fair’s promotional campaign theme, A Timeless Tradi-
tion, included two poignant and patriotic mobile exhibitions. The Wall that Heals, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall and traveling educa- tional museum, ran from opening day, February 5 through February 9. The 9/11 Never Forget Traveling Exhibit, a museum tribute and educational me- morial of the events of September 11, 2001, was on display from February 10 through February 16, the last day of the Fair. The Wall that Heals was created and is managed by the Vietnam Veterans
Memorial Fund (VVMF), the same non-profit organization that built the Vi- etnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall) in Washington, D.C. The Wall was de- signed to travel to communities throughout the United States and spread the Memorial's healing legacy, as a place where families and friends go to learn, remember and pay tribute to loved ones. “We were proud to bring the Wall That Heals to the Tampa Bay community,” commented Adam Putnam, Com-
missioner of Agriculture. “During the 2015 Florida State Fair, veterans, their families and others had the opportuni- ty to honor Americans who served in the Vietnam War and recognize the sacrifice they made on behalf of our great nation.” The 9/11 Never Forget Traveling Exhibit was created in 2013 by the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
A high-tech, tractor-trailer unfolded into a 1,100 square foot exhibit and provided interactive education, artifacts, news and video recordings, and live tours from FDNY heroes that shared their personal 9/11 stories. “We were grateful to have such extraordinary programming at the 2015 Fair,” says Doyle E. Carlton, III, Florida
State Fair Authority Chairman of the Board. “Both the Wall that Heals, and the 9/11 Never Forget exhibits repre- sent critical eras in American History,” Mr. Carlton continues. “We feel these gave an opportunity for reflection, inspiration and strengthened all that viewed them.”
