The Northeast Florida Fair By Shelly Terrell

The 2014 Northeast Florida Fair was held October 16-

26 in Callahan. The theme was "Blue Jeans & Country Dreams" and proved there was excitement from Fair offi- cials, staff, exhibitors, vendors, and all who attended the fair. We celebrated 67 years of the Fair. We had twelve days of pretty good weather. Hildebrand Rides offered a variety of rides and games for the entire family. Fair entertainment included Funnybonez, performances from the middle and high school bands, a talent show and a variety of local entertainers. The Mud Swag Truck Show was a highlight the first weekend. Other competitions included arts, crafts, canned and baked goods, and horti- culture exhibits entered by all ages. Nassau County school booths were decorated and highlighted the Fair theme. The West Nassau County Historical Society pro- vided an exhibit about the history of our county. They also gave history talks in our Old Time Village. Other things in the Old Time Village included an antique tractor display, honeybee keeping, and crosscut saw demonstra- tions provided by the Florida Division of Forestry. The milkable cow and other interactive agricultural activities were enjoyed by the children. Geiger Rodeo provided a first class show the second weekend. Rodeo contestants participated in rough stock and timed events. As always, the Fair is a time to showcase youth in the community and support 4-H and FFA projects. Fairgoers were excit- ed to see improvements throughout the grounds. If you were not able to visit us, we extend an invitation

to this year's Fair, October 15-25, 2015. Our board, staff, and volunteers promise to make you feel right at home. For more information, please visit our www.neflfair.org, e-mail info@neflfair.org, or like us on Facebook Northeast Florida Fair-Callahan, FL.
