Blandy & Blandy opens new office in Reading
Reading-based solicitors firm Blandy & Blandy marked its continued growth with the opening of a second office in the town centre.
33 Blagrave Street will house the firm’s company and commercial, dispute resolution and employment law teams and provide modern and welcoming meeting spaces for clients.
The move sees the firm renew longstanding links with the Blagrave family and name after acquiring its main office at One Friar Street from John Blagrave in 1798.
Joint managing partner Philip D’Arcy commented: “33 Blagrave Street is an ideal second home for the firm, being under a minute’s walk from both our One Friar Street office and Reading Station.
“We are immensely proud to be one of the Thames Valley’s most established businesses and indeed
one of the oldest law firms in the UK. We look forward to continuing to grow, following the successful opening of our London office in 2014, and to welcoming clients to our new Reading office at 33 Blagrave Street.”
Nigel Horton-Baker, executive director, Reading UK CIC, said: “Professional services have long been one of the strengths of Reading’s dynamic economy and in Blandy & Blandy, we are fortunate to boast a nationally- recognised law firm that has been at the heart of support for our economy for nearly three centuries. I am delighted that they have linked the growth and success of their own business to that of Reading by choosing to do so in the centre of the town and I wish them continued success in both their new Blagrave Street offices as well as their historic home in Town Hall Square.”

Law firm Blake Morgan has been recognised for its expertise in trademark and copyright law with an accreditation in a leading worldwide directory.
The firm’s intellectual property team has achieved a bronze listing in WTR 1000 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals.
The firm appears for the first time in the guide, published by World Trademark Review, which identifies the trademark industry’s leading lights in 70 jurisdictions around the world.
The guide notes that the creation of Blake Morgan by last year’s merger of the law firms Blake Lapthorn and Morgan Cole gives the new firm “greater geographical scope and a rich pool of cross-disciplinary expertise to draw upon”.
It goes on to say: “Clients – including Wiggle, Be Wiser Insurance, Supermassive Games and the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board – find all members of the team to be
commercially astute, and always quick to offer proactive and expert advice.”
Blake Morgan’s intellectual property team has a wide range of expertise in areas including trademark creation and protection, intellectual property disputes and copyright.
Partner Jill Bainbridge, who heads up the team, is described in the listings as “sensible, commercial and well-versed in court and registry procedure”.
She said: “World Trademark Review is a highly-respected directory and we are proud to have achieved a listing in its pages for the first time.
“I’m especially pleased that WTR has recognised the strength, expertise and versatility that Blake Morgan has in its intellectual property team as a result of the merger.”
