me at the alumni events. After moving to Washington in spring 2008 and working at the fish canneries in Alaska for a summer, I moved to Mt. Prospect, Illinois, to live with my father.

This year has been one of many changes for me! I’ve been accepted into nursing school and will begin in January. I’ll receive an RN in 2013 and a BSN in 2015. I’ll have summers off during nursing school, which is wonder- ful because I’m engaged! My fiancé, Jon, and I will be getting married next summer!
Kasey Grewe ’07 I’m a chemistry major at Pomona and
will graduate in the spring. I will spend a year doing chemistry research and then enter med school in fall 2012. Still miss OES!
Sarah Kushner ’07
I just returned from working in Santiago, Chile, over the summer in a financial consulting firm. I am studying economics at Oxy and hope to work in some sort of econ-related firm next year. OES has been the highlight of my educational experience thus far (better than Oxy, even)!
Alex Mason ’07 I’m currently living in Chicago, where
my father, stepmother, and brother reside. My mother moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, in September of 2007, which explains why some of you haven’t seen

I attended Harper College in Palatine, Illinois, from spring 2009 to spring 2010, where I garnered a few athletic awards for volleyball, including the NJCAA Div III All-American as the unanimous first pick. I currently attend
Chicago State University in the heart of the south side of Chicago, pursuing a degree in botany and horticulture. Here’s to 2011 and everything it can bring!

I spent the first part of my summer leading art projects and games for Shi’a village kids in Bahrain in partnership with the U.S. Embassy there. From Bahrain I headed to Jordan where I spent a couple months living with a Bedouin family in a village in the Wadi Rum Desert. I helped out with the tourists who came through and also got to learn how to herd goats, cook over a fire and even succeeded in fasting for the month of Ramadan. I’m currently studying Arabic and International Relations at the University of Jordan in Amman and spending the weekends exploring Jordan. In the new year, I’ll go to the Negev desert in southern Israel for a couple months for an internship. I’m on Facebook if you want to get in
touch. I would love to hear news from home!
Michael Gale ’09 Michael, who is a sophomore at

Hello Fellow Aardvarks! My second year here in chilly Ripon,
Wisconsin, is even busier than my first, but I’m absolutely loving it! We just finished our fall production of Cabaret, in which I was a Kit Kat girl. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed teasing my hair within an inch of its life and ending up with hair that more closely resembles Frankenstein’s wife than any Cabaret dancer. Besides the musical, I am a resident assistant this year, I work as a tour guide and visit coordinator in our Admission Office, and I am a mentor for a freshmen seminar. I’ve just declared myself as both a history and theater major, and I’m already dreading my senior seminars, but for now my classes are fun! Best wishes to you all!

Angela Chou ’10 I am doing really well! College is
way easier than OES sometimes. I miss Portland a lot, and I hope everyone is doing well! Looking forward to seeing The Wizard of Oz.
Mark Mihalik ’10
I started West Point way back at the end of June, and, well, it has been quite a trip. After six “fun” weeks of Basic Cadet Training, “Beast Barracks” with Easy Company, and one week with Alpha Company, 1st Regiment, I joined the United States Corps of Cadets. Classes have been difficult at times, but time management has saved me over and
