family or colleagues. The menu caters for all tastes and includes some great British favourites – the beer battered haddock and chips take some beating – through to Mediterranean inspired dishes. In addition to the main menu the Sous Chef demonstrates his creativity with daily specials at lunchtime and a range of mouth-watering table d’hote menus in the evening – great value at £18.95 for two courses and £23.95 for three. The Green is also well known for hosting small private parties of eight to 14 on one table and 16 to 40 using one or both sections of the restaurant. In summer the restaurant opens out onto a terrace offering fabulous alfresco dining. We chose the three course option from a generous selection of five Starters, seven Mains and five Desserts. We began with Tempura Prawns served with cucumber

batons and a sweet chilli dip plus Burhill Crab with prawn and avocado salad served with a Bloody Marie cocktail sauce. What to choose for our main course? Finally I decided on the Oven Roasted Fillet of Sea Bass with fennel, minted new potatoes and sauce Provencale. My partner selected Pan Roasted supreme of guinea fowl served with honey soused parsnips, chantenay carrots and pommery mashed potatoes served with red wine sauce and blackberry jus. For dessert we enjoyed Chocolate Truffle Torte served with mint chocolate ice cream and Mixed Berrt Pavlova served with Chantilly cream and strawberry coulis all complimented by a bottle of Mission Wine Estate Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.
