In a total musical contrast, THE EAST KENT CHORUS from the Ashford area specialise in barbershop-style and sing unaccompanied in four-part harmony. The 20-strong choir was formed as the Ashford Barbershop Harmony Club in 2010 following a ‘Learn to Sing’ course promoted by the British Association of Barbershop Singers. • Visit

MUMMA MIA, a group of mothers from Sutton Valence, was originally formed for a little fun before school pick-up. But the choir has gone from strength to strength, having its own spread in Woman magazine in 2014, focusing on the health benefi ts of singing in a choir. Another female choir, WOMEN IN HARMONY, was formed to provide an opportunity for all women who wish to sing, irrespective of musical training and ability, to be encouraged and develop their love singing in a relaxed and friendly environment. KILNDOWN JUNIOR AND COMMUNITY CHOIR has two sections – one of children aged 11 to 13 and a senior choir with a repertoire from sacred music to pop songs.
