Firstly, a very Happy New Year, and here’s wishing you all health, happiness, and prosperity for 2015.


Over the past couple of years we have seen the popularity and growth of “afternoon” entertainment here on the South Costa Blanca, especially during the winter months.


Several venues in the area are now partaking in this concept and offering daytime “Live Music” for either dancing, or just listening to.


“Frankie and the Booters” are a new and exciting band that was recently formed and features three experienced and well known musicians and a fantastic vocalist to compliment them.


The line up of the band are:


Francis (Frankie) Symons on lead vocals. Besides being a first class singer and a great personality, Francis is a sound engineer and operates a recording studio from his home and is also a renowned supplier of all musical equipment.


Ian (Mad Dog) Hutchins is on lead guitar. Besides playing the guitar, Ian is also a guitar technician, and can not only repair and re-set these instruments, but also build them!!!


Bryan (The Enforcer) James is on drums. Bryan is one of the most versatile drummers I have seen. From jazz to modern classics and contemporary pop ...his solid and steady rhythms are a driving force behind any musical combo.


Last, but not least is Bill (The Pope) 0’Brien on bass guitar. Apart from playing bass, Bill is a very talented lead guitarist. He has been a professional musician for many years and has worked alongside some of the top names in show business.


One such household name was none other than the legendary Chuck Berry. That was back in the 1970s, when Bill’s band (at the time) supported Chuck on a British and European tour.


Frankie and the Booters put on a impressive Rock ´N Roll Show, which is not only absolutely brilliant to listen to, but will certainly appeal to many of the ex-pat population here, who love to Jive and Dance to the great music from the 1950s and 1960s.


The repertoire covers all the well known classics from this era including Bill Haley and the Comets, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly etc ...... far too many great songs to list here.


If you would like to hear (or dance to) this great band, they can be seen at the Royal Asia Restaurant, Benijofar (Nr Mercadona) on Thursdays from 3 - 5 pm.
