Shepherdstown Film Society announces spring 2015 series Shepherdstown Film Society
will present fi ve fi lms through April, starting January 30. Four fi lms comprise the spring theme of women artists, and one fi lm is presented in conjunction
with Shepherd
University’s Common Reading Program. All fi lms will be shown on Fridays at 7pm, in Shepherd University’s Reynolds Hall. Admission is free, and each showing will be followed by a discussion. An opening night reception at The War Memorial Building in Shepherdstown will kick off the series from 5:30–6:30pm Friday, January 30. CommuniTree invites applicants West Virginia Project Com- muniTree (CTree) promotes
tree planting and education on public land through volun- teerism in the Potomac Head- waters of West Virginia (Berke- ley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan, and Pendleton counties). The program also focuses on en- hancing and promoting aware- ness of watershed and riparian area needs such as storm water management, water quality is- sues, buffer zone planting, and soil erosion. CTree is entirely volunteer based and invites or- ganizations and agencies to ap- ply for CTree kits to organize, coordinate, and implement urban tree plantings through a competitive grant
pro-
cess. Deadline for submission is February 1, 2015. Applications can be found online by follow- ing the Forestry tab at www.

January 5: A French Immersion Story Time (for infants through second
graders) will be held 4–4:45pm in
the library’s children’s department. January 12: A Spanish Immersion Story Time (for infants
through
second graders) will be held from 4–4:45pm. January 13: Lap Babies and Ones will meet Tuesdays from 10:15–11am, beginning January 13. Time for Toddlers will be on Tuesdays from 11:15–noon, also starting the 13th. The After School Program for ages 5 through 12 will be held Wednesdays from 4–4:45pm, and begins January 14. Berkeley Arts Council Art Classes The Berkeley Arts Council has announced a full array of art
workshops and classes covering a range of introductory to advanced topics. Workshops begin January 10 and classes begin January 19. Workshops are usually one day and provide a basic overview of a medium or technique, or boost your creativity in
a
