Borough councillor Nick De

Wiggondene said this was an issue being explored by planning officers. He added that the appeal over the original Waterside Park planwas likely be looked at by an inspector in the spring.

the worst place they could think of – on a corner and with all the haz- ards along there.” Chairman Daniel Skinner also

took issue with the reference that the site would be “convenient to local transport links”, adding: “Only if you’re prepared to flag

New PCSO named

TIMON Gurr introduced himself to the parish council as the area’s new PCSO. He takes over the five parishes

of Thurnham, Bearsted, Otham, Downswood and Detling, previ- ously covered by Jim Stevens. Parish councillors asked if he

could make his presence known in Thurnham Lane, following a report that the road was being used as a “rat run” and also by the railway bridge, where com- muters walking home were at risk from speeding cars during the dark evenings.

down a train, that is; unless, of course, there is a Barty Halt station that we’re not aware of!” Borough Cllr Nick De Wig- gondene said he was seeking clari- fication of a response from Maidstone Council’s conservation officer that there would be no ob- jection to the listedwall at the front of Barty House being demolished and moved in, so bends in Roundwell could be ironed out. Cllr Mick Wise added: “How they would deal with the difference in soil levels is anyone’s guess.”

Play area funds COUNCILLORS were assured that Section 106 money destined for the park in Peverel Drive at Bearsted Park would be used to im- prove the play area. Borough councillor NickDeWig- gondene said he was progressing talks that would set aside the £30,000 and ringfence any remain- ing money for potential use in Av- erenches Road. The parish council thanked him

for his work.

Are you fed up with the constant itchy, gritty feeling?

Do you feel that your Doctor, hospital or optician has not resolved the problem?

Do any drops you use seem to make little difference?

Is it worse in windy conditions? Do you want relief from your dry eyes?

Dry eyes is a terrible condition to suffer from and it tends to be worse at this time of year.

Buchanan Optometrists leading dry eye clinic in Snodland, has been bringing happiness and relief to sufferers of dry eyes for many years. Led by husband and wife team Alisdair & Kathyrn Buchanan, the practice is one of the leaders in dry eyes treatments in Kent.

Alisdair Buchanan explains why it is so different. “Most clients visit their doctor, some are referred to the hospital when they have dry sore eyes. The drops that the NHS have at their disposal are very limited and

are certainly not at the cutting edge of dry eye treatments. As dry eye specialists Optometrists, we fully assess your problem, taking into account any issues and concerns you have. Your tears are made up of several layers, we analyse and assess in what layer the problem is. We use a microscope to look at your lids in minute detail allowing us to check the tiny glands that produce your tears, we can also use an infrared camera to image the ducts from your glands to make sure these are clear. We then grade your dry eye symptoms, so that we can measure the improvement over the coming weeks. At Buchanan Optometrists we stock one of the largest ranges of dry eye drops and blepharitis treatments. Because we aren’t restricted to only a small selection, we find exactly the right treatments for you. The drops we use aren’t normally available in opticians or chemists, so we make it easy to re-order these by phone or on our website – www.eyestuff.co.uk. For even more convenience, once you are settled with your treatment, we can set up a direct debit

and post your drops or gels to you. Follow- up consultations monitor the improvements in your symptoms and vision, we listen to your comments and fine tune treatments where necessary. Should you have any flare- ups in the future all it takes is a quick phone call and we will fit you in for a further assessment.

Being an independent optician also means we have the time to spend with you. From the moment you walk through the door of our large modern practice with state-of-the- art equipment you will notice a very different experience, it is peaceful, relaxing, comfortable and professional. You can rest assured that you are trusting your eye-care with the most awarded optician in Kent.
