ampc.kent.gov.uk. Bulbs planted Bulbs donated by a resident had been planted on the village green. Maintenance workwas also planned to restore the Quintain. Salt bag A large salt/sand bag would be delivered to the village ready for distribution when needed.
Snodland Town
War memorial The cost of cleaning the war memorialwas £3,850, met from the war memorial fund, with an additional £38 from the cemetery reserve. Fire alarm In the Devonshire Rooms the fire alarm system required repair and smoke detectors should be installed. The cost would be £1,495. Further information and costings for emergency lighting for the building would be prepared. Information Itwas agreed to publish the draft minutes of meetings together with a timetable to ensure that informationwas accurate before publication.A new town notice board would be installed near the trim trail at Holborough Lakes.
Roger Frankland-Haile
ROGER Frankland-Haile (70) was well- known locally from his 16 years running Bow Bridge Marina inWateringbury. He also lived inWateringbury with his wife Sue of 22 years. Born in Bexley, Roger moved to
Australia with his family as a boy and was educated in that country. He started a varied career that took him
across the world and saw him working at various times with plastics, in the merchant navy and in skilled jobs including lorry driving and installing office furniture. He and Sue took over the marina as a
Parking Town council chairman Anne Moloney advised that following a meeting with Sergeant Jo Mo regarding the cars parking on pavements, especially in the Birling Road area, itwas agreed that the police would advise residents not to park illegally and dangerously. Pavement parking is illegal as cars drive on and off an area that is not a public road. If the situation did not improve, parking enforcement notices would have to be issued. Local councillors and the town CEO would be meeting with Sergeant Mo to put up posters around Birling Road and RecreationAvenue to begin a campaign through November. Station parking The chairman reported that people had expressed concern about parking at the railway station when the high speed trains run on the line. Borough councillorswere seeking assurances that improvements to transport routed to and from the station would be put in place to make sure local residentswere not inconvenienced. Itwas unlikely that improvements to the station would take place before the 2015 financial year.
Troiscliffe
Taylors Lane Regarding the problem of cars mounting the pavement to pass in the narrow part of Taylors Lane, alongside the duck pond, Kent Highway Sevices recommended contacting the safety critical schemes section. Gullies The chairman, Cllr Ann Kemp, would check with Tonbridge and Malling Council regarding the ongoing problem of the gullies in Green Lane. Village hall Cllr Martin Collins had aended a village hall meeting and reported on forthcoming events – a quiz night, floral arranging and Christmas dinner. It had been noted that hirers of the village hallwere sometimes using part of the recreation ground, aswell, without having first asked for permission. Cllr Collins would speak to the village hall commiee and ask that a clause be inserted into the hire conditions so that risk assessment could be obtained and necessary insurance cover put in place. Highways Complaints had been received about the hedge in Taylors Lane belonging to Long Gore Coage. Cllr Trevor Ledamun would speak to Kent Highway Services. Hedge Cllr Collins had cut back the hedge

Dog nuisance The meeting heard that a Romany family from Nelesteadwere allowing their dogs to run free on the playing fields andwere not picking up their mess. Peoplewerewarned not to approach them – the dogwarden had been contacted. Cemetery The chairman had received a heated telephone call from a resident regarding a request to transfer burial plots, in which he referred to the council as the “mafia”. The maer had since been seled and a cheque sent to the resident had been accepted. Flickering lights The meeting heard that lights were flickering in homes in Red Hill. UK Power Networks had said the equipment supplying the powerwas old, faulty and in need of modification. The parish councilwas asked if it could help speed up the work. Lier Therewas concern about the increasing amount of lier throughout the village. MikeWis suggested a school competition to design a poster to draw aention to the problem and asked the council to approach the school. He added that Tonbridge and Malling Council did not appear to empty the bins regularly. Cllr David Marks suggested approaching borough Cllr Simon Jessel for advice. It was suggested that businesses should be responsible for their surrounding areas. Overgrown vegetation Therewas general concern about overgrown hedges and trees obscuring road signs and footpaths etc. KCC would be contacted about this, with particular aention to PizienWell Road near the A26.

Jack Kno THE death in Somerset has been announced of John “Jack” Kno (88). Born in Snodland, Jack was also formerly resident inWest Malling. He leaves his wife Maureen, children Joanna, Jude and Phil and grandchildren Georgia, Jacob and Zane.
