Festive concert
in Betty’s name AN evening of festive songs is to be held at Snodland Commu- nity Centre on December 6 in memory of Betty Trott, two days before what would have been her 82nd birthday. She and her husband, David,
lived in Snodland for more than 50 years and celebrated their di- amond wedding in 2012. They loved opera and classical music and David thought the concert would be a fitting way to raise money for the Heart of Kent Hospice and Macmillan, which helped Betty in her last few months of life. The concert will feature opera
from local classically-trained singer Rachel Taylor as well as Christmas and popular songs by the Harvel Singers. Emily Huxtable, David and Betty's granddaughter, said the whole Trott family, including David, six children and four grandchilden, are involved in the concert, including making home-made sausage rolls and mince pies. Tickets are £5. For details call
Emily on 07815 873304 or email snodlandfestiveconcert@gmail. com.

SNODLAND Town Council has ob- jected to a planning application to install security galvanised steel welded mesh on the windows and doors of the signal box at Snod- land Railway Station. Because it is a listed building the council has suggested it is com- pleted in a manner more aestheti- cally pleasing than steel mesh.

"I am pleased that we are able to organise an event in Snodland this year to help older people find out more about what's going on locally. "We've had some very positive feedback from some of those who have attended. “The talks and demonstrations proved particularly popular and I'm delighted that we were able to provide older people in the Snod- land area with an opportunity to develop new interests, meet new people and pick up some useful health and safety tips at the same time."
