Vendor Companies Combine Forces to Bring Districts the Best Options Possible
Partnering cannot only have benefits for the companies in-
volved, but customers as well. “Customers are looking for a single point of contact,” said
Zonar System’s Chief Marketing Officer Bill Brinton. “Ideally, a customer could get all of their technology from a single vendor.” Tis is the seed that is beginning to grow in the school bus
industry, one that has seen a measurable leap in the want and need for new technology, whether that be GPS, routing software or audio/video. But it is not just about selling everything to ev- eryone, it is about matching the right companies to deliver what the customer expects and deserves. Software solutions manufacturer Transfinder has not only a
working relationship with Zonar, its products mesh as well as their business partnership. It recently developed and released into the market its Servicefinder Fleet Maintenance solution, which integrates with Zonar’s Electronic Vehicle Inspection and Reporting (EVIR) system. “Inspection results using the handheld EVIR are automatically
imported into Servicefinder and work orders are generated to ensure that any defect found by the EVIR system is repaired or part replaced,” said Transfinder Spokesperson Barbara Pilliod. Not only can these combinations save money when it comes
to selecting the right products, it can give school district IT departments less of a headache since the systems have been in- tegrated before they ever make it to the district itself. “Data flows seamlessly, allowing districts to have a clear pic-
ture of their operations and more usage of the data they gather on students, vehicles, routes, drivers, etc.,” said Pilliod. But, in the end, it’s up to the school district to decide what’s in
its best interest when it comes to purchasing. With a number of different options available and very little funding in most cases, decisions must be made by looking at the bigger picture. “Tere may be any number of different technologies that a
school district wants to deploy,” said Doug Hamlin, president and CEO of Versatrans. “You want to deploy the right set of tech- nologies for the goal the district is working towards.” ■
