A group of late 19th century African Tribal objects, to include; a copper wire woven arm ring, a brass wire woven arm ring, a copper and brass wire decorated gourd snuff container and stopper, a woven palm and string ball shaped ornamentation, five sectional carved wood wind chime, a whip, and an unusual bamboo handled Ceremonial stick/wand with carved detail and woven hair top, (7). Provenance: Discovered in a kit box (lot 627 in this sale) with items collected during the Boer War Campaign relating to ‘HON. R. F. CARNEGIE, GORDON HIGHLANDERS, South Africa 1896-97, India 1898-99, South Africa 1899- Dec.1901 (siege of Ladysmith)’ as inscribed on a leather telescope case from the same box. £50-100


640. A late 19th century African Tribal carved wood head rest/pillow, the concave platform raised on a Y-shaped support with woven wicker and hide edged detail, 13cm wide x 27.5cm high.
