ere’s a brilliant new addition to the deployment support resources, available for RAF Families
to use – ‘Here’s My Busy Week’ tear-off pads. A great way of allowing your children’s news from home to be sent to locations around the world…
Earlier this year the RAF Community Support team worked with The Victoria Chart Company to develop a new product to help children and young people keep in touch with their deployed parent/relative. The 'Here's My Busy Week’ tear-off pad enables a young person to detail their activities for the week and then fold up their record to send off to the deployed person. Once it's received in theatre, the deployed person can put a message on the reverse of the form and send it back to the young person.

Alongside the ‘Staying Positive Chart’, these items are proving to be particularly popular and can be used by the whole family.
This particular initiative aims at helping children and young people with those basic written communication skills which are often overlooked because of the increasing use of electronic media. It is hoped that using the pads (which have enough sheets for a six- month deployment), will provide an alternative and fun way for young people to interact with family members during deployments. It is a great resource allowing personnel the opportunity to keep up to date with all that is happening at home and when they can telephone home it can also give them something extra to talk about; sometimes a tricky task with a small 4 year old!
Thanks to the generosity of the RAF Charitable Trust, a grant of £9,603.60 was awarded and 5,000 of these pads
have been purchased and distributed to Stations.
