ABOUT OUR SCHOOL School Building and Facilities

G

lobe was built in 1874 and has a long established tradition of providing education in Bethnal Green. Our school is a community school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets where boys and girls attend from the age of three, when they start nursery, to the age of eleven, after which they transfer to secondary schools. We serve a very culturally diverse community.

Our school is slightly different from others in that we have a 30 place additionally resourced provision for children with special educational needs. We provide additional and specialised support for children with speech, language and communication needs. These places are allocated by the Local Authority.

The school environment consists of a large, well cared for, three storey refurnished Victorian building within a walled playground. We have made considerable improvements to the learning environment over the years in order that it is an attractive, safe and comfortable place for children, staff and parents to be.

In addition to the classrooms, we have a large computing room, a music room and three halls where PE, assemblies and performances are held as well as being used as dining rooms over the lunch period. We have a range of group rooms where children are taught in small groups or on an individual basis.

We also have a community house called Hartley House where parents regularly meet and take part in the range of courses on offer.

We have the unique feature of a roof playground where children play daily which is fully resourced and even has a garden.

We are an accessible school with an accessible toilet, a lift and a hygiene room. All of our classrooms are fitted with equipment to support children and staff with hearing impairments.

These extensive facilities allow us to use the space creatively and flexibly to meet the needs of all our children.
