Top 150 SMEs worth £1.2b in annual sales
The fourth annual SME 100 is once again a £870 million powerhouse of Thames Valley enterprise and entrepreneurial success. And, for the second year running, we have included the Next 50 – to create a listing of 150 companies worth £1.2 billion in combined turnover, and making a major contribution to the region’s economy.
The SME 100 is an evolving list with companies that break through the £10m-plus turnover barrier moving up to our Thames Valley 250 list, while other smaller businesses enter the list for the first time.
The SME 100 reflects the variety of small and medium-sized enterprises that exist across the region.
The listing is compiled by The Business Magazine, sponsored by Santander bank and VitalSix, and is now supported by the Thames Valley Berkshire Business Growth Hub. The Growth Hub offers a new way of working to support Berkshire's growing businesses. It's
a centre of excellence for ambitious businesses seeking information, support, finance, knowledge and experience to help scale up and grow, boost performance and find new ways of working; and is a single independent gateway to:
• business information, networking and events
• tailored strategic business support and coaching
• commercialisation grants of up to £40k contribution per project
• leadership and management training.
Ranked by sales, the SME 100 includes only private independent businesses. Public companies and foreign-owned enterprises are excluded.
David Murray, publisher of The Business Magazine, said: “This is not just a listing, it’s a network of SMEs. We will invite the companies to events and profile a number of the businesses in the year ahead.”
At the top of the SME 100 are five companies with £10m turnover – Airdri Group of Eynsham, Thomas International of Marlow, Cleenol Group of Banbury, RGB Communications of Oxford and Carlton Ceilings & Partitions of Slough.
Rules of engagement
