Denmark’s Leman International System Transport, the parent company of UK forwarder Aeroship, has acquired the total share capital of the freight forwarding and logistics company Dan Cargo as well as its subsidiaries in Gothenburg, Sweden and Oslo, Norway. Leman CEO Thomas Krøyer


said the move would allow his company to optimise its European road traffic, expand logistics activities “and work for an extended and fine-meshed


distribution concept for the benefit of our customers.” Although Dan Cargo has no


UK depots it has substantial volume in and out of the country. Aeroship Freight Forwarding will merge these activities with its current organisation which has depots in Basildon, Cannock and Bradford. UK managing director Jesper Thygesen said: “The acquisition shows the group’s intentions of expanding and we continue to identify potential


acquisition targets within the UK. These are exciting times and we are in a very strong position to grow our business both organically and through acquisitions.” Dan Cargo MD and majority


shareholder Karsten Sørensen added: “Both companies are based on ensuring customer satisfaction through motivated employees. I am confident that our activities will be carried on by Leman skilfully and in the right spirit.”


Ferrymasters and Transmec join forces to Romania


P&O Ferrymasters has joined forces with Transmec Group to launch an intermodal Belgium- Romania service with three departures per week each way by dedicated train. Trains


run between


Zeebrugge (Belgium) and Curtici in Romania and collect and ship services are also offered in the UK, Ireland and elsewhere in Europe. Forward shipment by road to or from the Balkans, Turkey, Ukraine, Moldova and Bulgaria can also be arranged


in Curtici, together with on-site import/export clearance, cross- docking and transhipment into secure warehousing and short- sea connections from Constanta and Varna to Black Sea countries. Typical schedules are five to


six days from UK to Romania and seven days to Istanbul. Available units include 45’


palletwide high cube containers and 300 13.60m Huckepack trailers and reefer and all the main ADR/RID hazardous categories can be catered for.

Hellmann-Pallet-Track deal ‘off to a strong start’


Hellmann Worldwide Logistics reports a strong start to its new partnership with UK nationwide network, Pallet-Track. Volumes through the Pallet-Track network have risen to more than 10,000 pallets per night within days of the deal going live in September. The deal, signed in April,


extends the UK Pallet-Track network into Europe for the first time, giving it access to multi- modal services in 56 countries. It also makes Hellmann one of


the largest single inputters into the Pallet-Track network in the UK and enhances distribution service for the TW, KT and SM post codes in the south-east. At Wolverhampton-based


Pallet-Track, managing director Nigel Parkes described going into Europe as “a massive step, but


never a gamble. We watched and waited for the right opportunity to make sure that our investment would make the best returns to the business – and that is immediately proving to be the case.” He added: “Hellmann works some

Alliance appoints WGS as Cape Town agent


Essex-based Alliance Group has appointed World Groupage Services (Cape) as its reciprocal NVOCC agency in Cape Town, South Africa. Freight controlled by WGS will be added to the weekly FCL groupage services it operates into the region. Alliance
