11-25 October Norwich Fringe Festival

04 Oct ‘14 -04 Jan ‘15 John Wonnacott and John Lessore; Te Life Room and the City Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery

Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery has joined with Norwich University of the Arts to celebrate the iconic arts school's 170th year. Tis is an exhibition of the work of two important British painters and the paintings they made in and around the art school while they were teaching there in the early 1980s. Wonnacott and Lessore were invited to Norwich Art School to develop a Life Room - a space where students could be trained in drawing from observation. Tey created two Life Rooms where they also created their own work. As well as figure painting, many of their works feature much-loved Norwich scenes and are on loan from major museums and collections.

Norwich Fringe Festival is upon us again, bringing a selection of new work from home-grown artists and one or two visitors from elsewhere. For 2014, the main Fringe venue is the Undercroft under the Memorial Gardens, which be holding loads of events including a visual art exhibition based on augmented reality and sound installations. Te Undercroft will also see short performances in the ‘Twilight Hour’ 6-7pm, perfect for a bit of a culture fix on your way home from work. If you have a small person in your family, you’ll love Seska from Brighton, who’ll be presenting a children’s and family comic magic show. Terence Blacker and Something Happened will be performing their stories and characters of 21st century life with a heartfelt comic twist at Te Garage. Tere are many, many, many more exciting and one-off shows and pop up events happening all over the city, from Te Birdcage to STEW. Most events are free or will take donations, but for ticketed events, you can book through the website where up-to-date listings can also be found. Keep in touch for all the details you need.

Meet William, a twenty-something Londoner who drifts from coffee shop to bar, falling in love, self-obsessing and finding solace in Te Smiths. Torn between conflicting loyalties to the girl of his dreams and his best friend, William has the chance to become more than half a person. An emotionally charged, coming-of-age story, blending wry comedy and the music of a beloved cult band, sung live. If you like your performance art, you can also check out Fallen From Grace - When We Embraced and Steve Waters - In a Vulnerable Place, both at the Arts Centre this month.
