Nebraska Trucking ljohnson@nebtrucking.com NEBRASKA TRUCKER — ISSUE 3, 2014 — www.nebtrucking.com 7

We are seeing the “hits” on this new media increase each week, so I encourage you to get tuned in and stay in touch with the up to the minute information that we’re sharing as we receive it.

However, even as these channels of communication expand, they hopefully will not replace the many “in person” opportunities to meet, greet and network with your industry peers we’ve held for years. Our recent Board meeting, golf tournament and Foundation fundraiser in May at Ashland had record attendance.

Te annual Truck Driving Championships in Grand Island gave us an opportunity to test and recognize some of our companies, best, brightest and safest drivers in the industry and they’ll be going on to the national championships in Pittsburgh in August. Te annual Skills USA diesel competition was held at it’s new venue, the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, and our annual Supertech Diesel Competition will be held in July at Central Community College in Hastings. Please join me in congratulating the many participants and volunteers that give their time and talent to making all of these events such a great success.

Currently, our Safety Management Council and Nebraska Logistics Council leaders are meeting to plan their programming their events for the upcoming program years which begin each year in September. Te Nebraska Logistics Council will be kicking their season off with their annual Scholarship fundraising/industry fund raising Golf Tournament at Tregaron in Bellevue in early September. If you didn’t attend their networking event held at the Lucky Bucket Brewery in June, you missed a great opportunity to meet with the wide variety of supply chain professionals they draw to their events. It was great to see the many new people involved in the various modes of transportation, shipping customers and “hands on” logistics people that are interested in meeting more of us on the “trucking” side of the industry. If you’ve been around for awhile in the industry and remember the “old” Omaha and Lincoln Traffic Clubs, the Nebraska Logistics Council leaders are planning to step up their program to fill the gap created by their demise.

Also, don’t forget our annual Fall Conference which will once again be held at the Marriott Regency in Omaha, September 25–26. Keep an eye open for the great lineup of speakers and breakout sessions we’re planning.

Please keep an eye on our calendar of events and social media sites to make sure that you and/ or your staff don’t miss these opportunities to network with others in the Transportation, Distribution, Warehousing and Logistics career/industry pathways. Until our next edition, thanks for your support!

GREETINGS FROMLINCOLN!

It’s been an unbelievably busy summer with the many changes and challenges going on in our industry. We’re doing our best to to use the many new communication tools at our disposal, so in addition to our weekly “Good to Know” and the Nebraska Trucker, we hope that you are also following us for the more immediate information we are sharing through our Nebraska Trucking Association and Truck Services web sites, Twitter feeds, Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
