Jonathan Brown, managing director of UBS Wealth Management as sponsor of this category, stepped up to present the Deals Awards trophy to Jonathan Davies, chief executive of The Training Room. This represented a personal ’double’ for Davies who had previously collected the Management Team of the Year award.

Davies was joined on stage by representatives of the firms involved with the award-winning deal.

THE BUSINESS MAGAZINE – SOLENT & SOUTH CENTRAL – JULY/AUGUST 2014

Since its creation in 2006, The Training Room has grown to become a market leader in the personal trainer training industry with a customer-base including some of the UK’s leading gym-chains, and a £9m turnover.

Through the supportive £20m investment and additional strategic input of LDC, The Training Room will be able to increase its rate of growth and expand into new training areas. One nomination for the deal, described The Training Room as “a true continuing success story for Poole and the Solent region.“

Davies had high praise for the professional advisers who had helped bring about the successful deal with LDC.

“To me, it’s all about getting the best advice. It is sometimes a false economy to go for lower cost advisers. When you start a business it can be difficult with cash, but I’ve found if you recruit the right advisers it really can pay dividends, and that’s certainly the case with this deal we’ve done recently,“ he said.
