Nominations and table bookings have begun for Women in Business 2014 – as preparations for the gala dinner and awards night step up a gear


Launched in June, Women in Business seeks not just to be an awards event, but a showcase for successful and influential women in the region.


Sponsored by Barclays, Deloitte, Blake Morgan and GCS, the recruitment specialist, Women in Business is run by The Business Magazine.


ABOUT THE AWARDS


Women in Business celebrates successful women who have excelled in their specific business, profession, organisation or line of work.


It is a multi-category awards scheme, so please choose the category which best suits you or your nomination.


Judges are looking for women who have made a real difference in business over the past 12 months.


The essence of these awards is to discover and reward exceptional women who, through leadership, entrepreneurialism, mentoring skills, and/or ideas stand out from their colleagues.


These awards are open to women working in companies in the south – defined as the Thames Valley and Solent regions.


Entrants can self-nominate or be nominated by a work colleague, customer, supplier or other associate.

ABOUT THE EVENING


Women in Business will be staged on September 11 at Oakley Hall, Oakley, near Basingstoke.


Guest speaker is Dame Stephanie Shirley, rated as one of the 10 most powerful women in Britain and an inspirational IT entrepreneur. Aged 80, Dame Stephanie is an ardent philanthropist and workplace revolutionary.

Woman of the Year (Large Business) In addition to the general criteria listed here, judges are seeking nominations from women running or working in organisations with over £10m turnover per annum who have achieved excellence in their field.


This category is open to women directors and employees of large and mid-size corporations; women in senior positions in public bodies and the professions; entrepreneurial women who have founded and run their own company; women who have shown exceptional abilities in mentoring other women; and/or women who have helped their business achieve significant results in the past year.


Woman of the Year (SME)


In addition to the general criteria, judges are seeking nominations from women running or working in organisations with under £10m turnover per annum who have achieved excellence in their field.


This category is open to women directors of small and medium-sized enterprises; women in senior positions in public bodies and the professions; entrepreneurial women who have founded and run their own company; women who have shown exceptional abilities in mentoring other women; and/or women who have helped their business achieve significant results in the past year.


Outstanding Contribution


In addition to the general criteria, this award recognises a woman in business who has made an outstanding contribution in the fields of either corporate social responsibility; diversity; education and training; community involvement or acts of charity; or support and coaching.


This award winner will have helped change lives. Their significant contribution will serve as a powerful legacy – as well as a benchmark for other women.


Rising Star


In addition to the above general criteria, this award is open to women aged 30 and under who have made their mark as women in business.


The winner is a ’woman to watch’. She may be a future leader, or already head of a team. She may be just starting in business, or forming her own company, or quickly rising through the ranks.


Nominations are encouraged from young women in businesses and organisations of all sizes.
