What’s in the shed

Twelve new bunkers were built on the Brabazon course as well as renovations to the 7th, including removing a bunker and building a new lake. We lifted and levelled the bottom tier of the 18th Brabazon greens and extended the green on the 10th hole as well as building a new greenside bunker. Extensive tree planting has been carried out around all three courses.

We are also installing new drainage improvements in some of our problematic areas, with both the trencher and gravel bander. Winter renovations continue with the use of the tree spade to move trees out of over-grown copses and replanting in open areas.”

The club runs an open door policy for its members and encourages them to discuss anything they are concerned about or suggestions for improvements. Two meetings per year are held for the management team to update members on plans for the future and discuss any issues. The views throughout all three courses are truly magnificent and much of this is achieved by the vast amount of formal gardens, hedges, water features, woodlands, trees and pathways. Designated out of play areas on the PGA course are left natural to encourage wildlife and bird boxes have been installed across the site. These environmental policies are important to Jamie and the club who said: “We have two honey bee hives on site which we look after; we started this three years ago as we realised the importance of increasing the population as it seems to be in decline. Some of the honey
