Danny and Sandy and “Those su-u-mmer ni- hi-ights” and catch all the antics of the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies as they return to Rydell for their senior year. Songs include “Greased Lightnin,’” “We Go Together,” “Summer Nights,” “It’s Raining On Prom Night” and so many more! “There are worse things you could do- oo…” than spend the evening following the romantic drama-rama’s of the pompadoured boys and bouffanted ladies of the “original” high school musical! Danny dreams about Sandy, Rizzo dreams about Kenickie, Marty Maraschino dreams about Sonny, Frenchie dreams, well, about hair… and they all have a whole lot of angst to go around, which ends up being “drama-lama-ding-dong” fun for the whole family! Grease takes place at the Welk Resorts, 8860 Lawrence Welk Drive in Escondido through Sunday, July 27. For tickets and more information call 888.802.7469 or go to

OTHELLO Summertime Shakespearian fun returns to
The Old Globe’s Lowell Davies Festival Stage! Okay, maybe it’s a bit more like tragedy, set with a little betrayal, jealousy and of course murder—it is Shakespeare after all—and the masterpiece Othello is what begins the games. Othello is a brilliant general, who has, despite many prejudices against him, distinguished himself on the battlefield. Things change a bit when he marries fair Desdemona, the amorous focus of his covetous lieutenant Igo, who jeal- ously plots to destroy Othello in order to pursue his ardor. Blair Underwood (Ironside, Sex and the City), Richard Thomas (The Waltons, The Ameri- cans) and Kristen Connolly (House of Cards), offer an intense and intimate production, dur- ing which poetry soars and swords clash, where true love and wrenching jealousy collide. Othello runs from Sunday, June 22 through Sunday, July 27, for tickets and more information call 619.234.5623 or go to
oldglobe.org.
EL HENRY The La Jolla Playhouse, in conjunction
with the San Diego Repertory Theatre is bringing this futuristic, site-based adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic Henry
IV, Part 1, featuring Culture Clash co-founder Herbert Siguenza as Fausto to the stage from Saturday, June 14 through Sunday, June 29. Part of the Playhouse’s With Out Walls series, which are produc- tions designed to move beyond the boundaries of traditional theatre. El Henry takes place in 2045 at the run-down metropolis Aztlan City (formerly San Diego), in which political apathy and corruption run the city and violent barrio families run the streets. It’s a harsh new world in which Hispanics, Mexicans and Chicanos have the majority rule in this new society abandoned by Anglo America. The ambitious leader of all the barrios, El Hank’s street kingdom is threatened by El Tomas and his hot-headed son El Bravo. To protect his interests he seeks the help of his charismatic son El Henry—only to find him mixed up with low-life thieves and drunkards—all lead by the lazy Fausto. Performances take place at Silo in Makers Quarter, 753 15th Street in Downtown San Diego, for tickets and more informa- tion call 858.550.1025 or go to
lajollaplayhouse.org.
