news MHA MacIntyre Hudson

moves up in the world The chartered accountancy firm has moved from its long-term home on Castle Street to Abbey Place, Easton Street; a newly re-furbished 9,000 sq ft office in High Wycombe

The excellent facilities include its own conference suite and a large car park. Ideally situated, it is only a short walk from High Wycombe train station (with excellent links to London) and provides easy access to the M40.

The move marks the latest significant step in MHA MacIntyre Hudson’s expansion, which last year saw further investment in the Thames Valley with HMT Assurance LLP in Reading joining the firm. The firm now have two offices in the Thames Valley, seven partners and over 50 professional staff. With 13 offices across the UK it is listed in the UK’s top 20 accountancy firms and was awarded ‘National Firm of the Year’ at the 2013 British Accountancy Awards.

Established over 130 years ago, the

firm can trace its local roots back to the start of the accountancy profession as one of 587 firms that joined together in 1880 to form the original Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and is one of only a handful still in practice today. The firm has had an office in High Wycombe since 1900.

Regional chairman, Patrick Byrne commented: “Due to the growth of our business, we needed larger, more flexible premises to provide an improved working environment for staff and a high-quality space to meet and serve our clients. We are delighted to be staying in High Wycombe.”

Services available to the business community include: audit and assurance, tax and VAT,

business strategy and advice, corporate finance, corporate recovery, counter fraud, forensic accounting and financial training. The firm also has a strong background acting for clients in the technology, manufacturing, engineering and construction sectors, as well as for legal firms, charities and academies.

Steve Baker, MP for High Wycombe commented: “I am delighted that MHA MacIntyre Hudson continues to invest in the Thames Valley and

to produce excellent, free reports such as their recent Manufacturing and Engineering Survey, which I thoroughly recommend. The firm is clearly committed to the long- term growth and development of High Wycombe. I am delighted they have expanded their business locally; it is a wonderful reflection of our area’s potential.”

If we can repeat the same level of improvement between now and 2015, this will place us firmly in the Best 100 Companies to Work For, which is our ultimate goal.”

Best Companies accreditation follows the elite ‘Michelin style’ star rating system for organisations that demonstrate high levels of employee engagement. Based on staff feedback, organisations are then ranked and given a Best Companies Index score.

Staff throughout the firm were independently surveyed on eight different workplace factors, including employee engagement, wellbeing and giving something back to the community.

The introduction of employee awards was highlighted as being particularly successful and appreciated by staff, who also enjoy benefits including subsidised gym membership, childcare vouchers, a pension scheme, life assurance, private health care, a profit-share arrangement, a discretionary bonus scheme and time off to undertake charitable activities during working hours.
