E-MAILS & TWEETS
NUMBER NINE Yo Michael, I enjoyed reading Kudzoo….especially the
tribute to Wyker. Well done. Also, thanks much for the logo and link to MNN - very cool. I'm in Abu Dhabi today, about to start production rehearsals with the Stones for a PanAsian tour that starts here on Friday. We go through mid-April, then we'll see if it con- tinues. In the meantime, take care and keep up the great work!
Best, Chuck Leavell Director of Environmental Affairs The Mother Nature Network (Ed. Note: Oh, and band director for The Rolling Stones!)
Man, Michael, there aren’t many on this
planet—and certainly few, if any in this sphere—that turn a labor of love and lust into such enjoyment for the masses like you do. Fantastic job on another great issue of Kudzoo!

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE SONGS Dear Michael, You are a writing ma-
chine, my friend. While I have truly enjoyed your books and your interview style, it was hard to read about friends who have passed or other musicians who lost spouses, children, etc.
While I know some people say the Marshall
Tucker Band is not really the MTB without Toy or Tommy, Skynyrd is not Skynyrd without Ronnie, Allen, Billy, or Leon; and the Outlaws are not the Outlaws without Hughie, I have to agree with the comments Henry Paul made. To me, thewhole is bigger than the sum of its parts. For example, there are several Outlaws albums that rate among my favorites: the first three but also Diablo Canyon. The only original member on DC was Hughie. Chris Hicks, Jeff Howell, and B.B. Borden were the others who played on that album. To me, if the music is good, the music is good, regardless of who car- ries the banner for the band. The MTB is the same way. I loved seeing all six original mem- bers years ago, but I also loved seeing them with Hicks, David Muse, Smoke, B.B., and Clay. I loved seeing SRA with Mike Estes and Duane Roland. Molly Hatchet is another example. They were excellent with Danny Joe Brown, Duane, Steve, Dave, Banner, and Bruce - but if they're just as good with Bobby Ingram, Phil McCormack and others, then it opens up the back catalog to new fans. Lots of great bands and single artists are still putting out great music and people like you are exposing this music to people like me. For that, I truly am thankful.
