ing this event with my sister Barbarah Neors. And like every past year you know you can expect refreshments, sexy models, a fashion show and fab entertainment from quintessential queens. Congratulations Luigi, you know we love you! And not just because you always have something special that makes us look fabulous. Daisy: Since we are on the topic of fabulous queens, don’t forget to mark your calendar on Saturday, May 10, and May 17 for the Golden Chicks Showat Brass Rail andThursday, May 22 at #1 Fifth Avenue. Three monthly shows with different casts and differ- ent acts, you can have fun and enjoy unique impersonations and comedy. Since we are talking about the

IS IT MAY ALREADY? Not that we’re complaining, but this

year is going by to fast! We just finished unpacking after The White Party and prepping for the GLAAD awards in L.A. and now we need all new outfits for May’s events. Daisy: Don’t get us wrong, we love

being this busy; the other option is to be at home bored and eating bon- bons. Jessica: I love bon-bons! Seriously though, where has this year gone? I can’t believe that I’ll be 24 in a few short months! WTF? Let’s do a quick review of April’s

events: L.A.’s Beverly Hilton was full of stars and members of the media at the GLAAD Media Awards, with special honors going to our Jenny-from-the- block, Miss Jennifer Lopez. J-Lo was honored for her continuous support of the LGBT community and her work as producer of the hit family dramaThe Fosters, the show about two lesbian moms and their foster kids. Daisy: She’s our “Jenny-from-the

rainbow-colored-block” and we love her. We also love actress and transgen- der activist Laverne Cox who was hon- ored by GLAAD and gave a particularly heart-warming speech. This girl puts the “t” in top-notch. This is a night we look forward to. We get all dressed up and have the chance to celebrate our community’s achievements in media.

Golden Chicks and cast, we must congratulate miss Kalane Neors for her wins at Mo’s Monday Night Dueling Divas drag battle. She has been on top nonstop for five weeks, with a guaran- teed seat in the finals. Jessica: If you haven’t made it out

Jessica: Sister, I agree. This is defi-

nitely an event we both look forward to every year. We get to socialize with great people in our community and also meet some stars. I love all the posi- tive attention our community gets at these events. We celebrated the coronation of our

favorite leather guy Mister Jay Heim- bach and his new title of Prince Royal of the Imperial Court de San Diego. This guy has such a big heart, we are sure he will be bringing his enthusiastic energy to this organization—in addition to his other well-known large attributes. Jessica: He is such a sexy beast!

Congrats Jay on the win and I am sure your reign will be the fullest. Stay sweet as you continue to represent our com- munity so well. Easter was so much fun. In addition

to spending time with family, we had a fun brunch get together at the home of our friend, and photographer (see this issue’s cover) David Quintanilla. He made a great celebration turn into someseriousfun. Daisy:Between judging a chocolate

duck drag decoration contest contest in the style of RuPaul’s Drag Race (they

looked like rubber duckies but are made of chocolate). There was also an egg-hula-hoop-partner-relay-race event in which yours truly was part of the winning pair. I guess all that thigh-squeezing really came in handy; because I didn’t drop one egg! David and his partner Rick sure know

how to throw a brunch. Sign me up for next year! Now lets talk about May and all the

events you must add to your calendar. You won’t be able to say that you don’t have anything to do because the month is packed with events. So, here we go. First stop is Palm Springs: We want

to invite you all to the opening night gallery exhibition, Smoke and Mir- rorsby our cover photographerDavid Quintanillaat the Towne Palm Springs Saturday, May 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visit and make a weekend out of it. The yearly anniversary we always

to a Golden Chicks drag show, please do so. They work so hard put together a great show, to make everyone laugh and have a great time. Each number is one-of-a-kind and will completely grab your attention! Our final recommendation for the

month (check out the calendar of events on page 64) is FilmOut San Diego taking place Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1. For film schedule information and tickets go tofilmout- sandeigo.com. Jessica: FilmOut never disappoints,

three days of queer cinema that tack- les the diversity of our community and every day lives. I love seeing what each new film has to offer. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. With this we say adios amigos! Y’all

have a great May to look forward to. We hope to see you out and about... ‘cuz you know we will be out. We almost forgot to mention it but, Happy Cinco de Mayo borrachas!
