CHASING THE CULTURE

La Jolla Playhouse is kicking off their 2014-2015 season with one of the productions from its “Page to Stage” workshops. This year brings us Chasing the Song, a new musical by the team behind Memphis, the four-time Tony Award-winning musical. Chasing the Song features book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro, music and lyrics by David Bryan, choreography by Sergio Trujillo and direction by La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. Chasing the Song had its first concert reading at the La
Jolla Playhouse during their 2013 DNA New Play Series. Ashley’s enthusiasm was infectious as he talked with me about that first reading. Now, just a year later, it’s back on the stage in its first full production.
