Craftsman delivers Hogarth’s vision for changing provision

he Hogarth Club in Chiswick, West London, is one the capi- tal’s longest standing and most prestigious health clubs, off ering


members a wide choice of leisure activities, including indoor pool, extensively equipped gym, Body Pump, Spinning, beauty therapy, dance, yoga and Pilates studios and squash as well as outdoor tennis. During its 30-year life, T e Hogarth has


undergone a wave of refurbishments to maintain its market-leading position, culmi- nating last year in a £1m investment in the gym, which saw Britain’s fi rst installation of Technogym’s Artis equipment. “T e impact of that investment made its


mark on other aspects of our provision,” says Ian Chaff ey, the club’s Operations Director. “T e existing changing rooms and showers, fi tted out about nine years ago, looked tired and dated and we realised we had to upgrade them to a standard in keeping with our mem- bers’ extremely high expectations,” he says.


All learners aged 16-19 are expected to follow a study programme.


“I’d known Craſt sman’s John Gibbs for


many years and knew of the quality that they could deliver. Aſt er visiting some of their changing room projects, including Penny Hill Park, I met with John to utilise his expertise to develop a concept to meet our requirements. Following further discus- sions with the team additional features were incorporated resulting in the project moving forward in December.” Craſt sman worked closely with Hogarth’s interior design team to create a subdued and relaxed ambience within the changing rooms. “To meet our members’ require- ments,” Chaff ey explains, “a combination of three-quarter and half-height Maximizer style lockers in a walnut fi nish were incorpo- rated to transform the storage and hanging space available within individual lockers. “T e new light cream upholstery for the

bench seating, complemented by the new stone surfaces for the vanity and towel units, have all helped create what are now truly
