Inaugural Upcycle! Art Fest on Sanibel S
anibel Island’s first fine arts and crafts event requiring the use of repurposed and re-envisioned materials will be
displayed at the Upcycle! Art Fest from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 16, at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge Visitor and Education Center. Twenty-five artists working in all media from around the country are expected to qualify. The educational and entertaining event will “directly ben- efit wildlife and its habitat at ‘Ding’ Darling,’” says Barb Lund, Upcycle! Art Fest committee chair. “Besides demonstrating the importance of recycling and conservation, it will offer visitors
opportunities to purchase one-of-a-kind pieces and even try their hand at it.” Activities will include artist exhibits, an art sale, a silent auction for an exclu-
sive piece fashioned by Andrew Corke, make-and-take crafts for kids and adults, and environmental slide presentations.

Mineral Spring Waters Beckon in Fort Myers
D
ays Inn Springs
Resort, in Fort Myers, offers visi- tors the op- portunity to experience
the healthful and soothing benefits of immersing in a sulphur-enriched, outdoor mineral spring and an indoor sauna. The facility is offering a special rate beginning this month and continu- ing throughout the summer. Sulphur, which has been used medicinally since ancient times, is contained in every cell of our bod- ies. A component of three different amino acids, which are the building blocks that make up protein, it is most concentrated in keratin, which bolsters hair, skin and nails. Sulphur is known as nature’s beauty mineral because it aids in the manufacture of collagen, which keeps skin elastic and young looking.
Cost: $10 per person per day. Loca- tion: 18051 S. Tamiami Trail. For more information, call 239-267-7900. See ad, page 33.
