Raja Ashtanga School of Yoga Course

he Raja Ashtanga School of Yoga will conduct a special teacher
training beginning July 1 at the Enlight Center, in Bonita Springs, that provides 290 certified training hours and Ray of Light Yogi designa- tions for participants. The course lasts a little over a month and the curriculum includes in-depth human body anatomy; first-aid assistance; teen and adult suicide prevention; family matters counseling; healthy food preparation and consumption; ayurveda and other holistic medicine; yoga philosophy from its core; and yoga pedagogy and business ownership skills. The philosophy of raja ashtanga yoga combines eight
principles: yama, awareness of external, physical body and matter in reactive stage; niyama, awareness of internal, sublime body and ether in active stage; asana, physical body training and maintenance; pranayama, subtle energy harvest- ing; pratyahara, separation of nature from mind; dharana, mind training and maintenance; dhyana meditation; and samadhi or oneness with self.

Aquaponics Gardening Training Session on Pine Island
T
he fundamentals of aquaponic gardening will be taught at a train- ing session from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 5, on Pine Island. Aquaponics consultant Jaime Guerra will discuss this natural gardening technique for growing fish and veg- etables with participatory activities and interactive, hands-on components at a working backyard aquaponic edible garden. Attendees will learn how to build and manage backyard aquaponic edible gardens by recycling and repurposing read- ily available materials found at home.
