Dynamic Dutch Driving Horse Splash


W


hy does Chester Weber say that Splash is his best driving horse, a true star at the FEI level? If we consider what a versatile


driving horse has to be able to do to compete successfully at the upper levels, we can see if Splash is built to accomplish those tasks. For those horses expected to show in the


dressage phase, we would expect to see dressage traits such as the ability to collect and extend. For those expected to compete in the marathon and/ or cones phases, we would expect agility, adequate length of stride and endurance. In addition we would expect to see factors for athleticism and soundness for all phases. LS – The lumbosacral gap (located just in front of the high point of croup) appears to be exactly where one would expect it to be for superior athleticism. Team Weber scored yet another win in the dressage phase at the CAI-A4 Caen in Caen, France, in August 2013 with a 34.63, where they ultimately won the championship. It was the ‘test event’ for the upcoming World Equestrian Games. Splash, owned by Jane Clark, is the horse at the right front of the four-in-hand.
