INTRODUCTION

LEAD ARTICLE LINKING TWO SEPARATE RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTORS

Our parent company Green Energy Publishing have taken the bold step in introducing a new magazine for the wave and tidal sector. I have been given the added responsibility for been editor of this publication as well.

We launch the publication at RenewableUK’s Wave & Tidal Event held in Belfast later this month.

The title of the publication is Wave & Tidal Energy Network and its business model will be identical to that of Wind Energy Network – we believe that the industry deserves an industry specific magazine and website which is solely dedicated to that industry and not tagged on to some other renewable publication as a sort of afterthought.

As the wave & tidal industry has crossover with that of wind, I am pleased to reflect this too in our lead industry article.

The lead industry article has been written by Trident Energy’s CEO Steve Packard whose company work in both sectors – we hope you find it of interest.

BLYTH FEATURE

Our ‘Spotlight on…’ feature focuses on Blyth in the North East , one of the many regional areas which have evolved to serve the needs of the industry.

The port houses some of the leading operators in the industry and also Narec the leading Research & Development Centre.

STOKE & STAFFORDSHIRE We also turn our spotlight on Stoke & Staffordshire featuring a surprising number of companies and organisations who sit well within the supply chain, given that they are relatively distant from offshore activities.

There are however perfectly suited companies with facilities ready-made to serve the wind energy industry both on and offshore as you will find within this feature.

FEATURES – GET INVOLVED The magazine continues to grow and it is now commonplace to see separate features on all sorts of areas within the industry. These features emanate from our discussions with leading experts in the industry during our visits to conferences and events, as well as our editorial team bringing up subject areas when looking at the industry as a whole.

Please feel free to contact us if there is any subject area which you think may be of interest to our readership and we will do the rest – there is never any charge for genuine editorial.

You will find our ‘Forthcoming Features’ tab on our website in the magazine section.

MAGAZINE AND WEBSITE INTERACTION – QR CODES Yet another reminder that we have changed our pink and green flashes indicating more information online. QR codes have been substituted in the printed version which means that you can scan the code with your smart phone and it will direct you to the featured company or organisation micropage held within our website, so that you can learn much more in all sorts of formats.

These have already become very popular as they link to the magazine in a very interactive way – a great marketing tool for our decision making readership to find out about products and services following the reading of an interesting article.
