Alan is chief constable
ALAN Pughsley has been named the new Kent chief con- stable . Mr Pughsley was formerly deputy chief constable at Kent Police, a post he came to in March 2011. He joined
Kent Police in April 2009 as assistant chief consta-
ble for specialist operations, heading up the joint Kent and Essex Serious Crime Direc- torate.
Before this, Mr Pughsley worked at the Metropolitan Po- lice Service from 1984. He has expertise in murder investiga- tions, armed robbery, firearms and drug-related crimes. He also served as a borough commander in Lewisham, and a detective superintendent in Surrey. Mr Pughsley was one of three candidates vying for the role of chief constable, following the decision of current chief consta- ble Ian Learmonth to retire.
