FROM THE EDITOR

What a great convention we had this past month down in St. George. I was thrilled to have met so many of our members and thankful for the opportunity to observe and interact with the remarkable business professionals around me. Thank you to all of our vendors, sponsors and attendees who made this event informational, fun and interactive. Also thank you to the convention committee, the UTA staff, Rick Clasby’ s family and Mariah and Martha Mills for all of the critical support they gave throughout the planning process. Their help and guidance was invaluable to pulling this event off with the greatest of success.

Since January of 2013, we have grown from approximately 45 percent of a following on Facebook jumping from 285 likes to 415. Twitter has also grown exponentially in the last six months with numbers increasing 23 percent from 989 followers to 1,222. If you have not already, please like us on Facebook under the name “The Utah Trucking Association” and on Twitter under username “UtahTrucking”. We have been using these avenues of communication to update our members daily with important information regarding upcoming events, legislative issues, emergency situations, and transportation updates. We have found it to be an effective, easy and fun way to converse with our members and we are excited to further take advantage of it. We will continue to post more contests for our members to enter so make sure you are on the lookout for those as well.

We are also thrilled to announce that we are presently producing a new logo and website that will enhance our ability to represent the trucking industry and improve the experience our members have on our website. Our members can look forward to the new website allowing them to register and pay for events and dues online, view the active membership list and much more. The logo, while still in its drafting stages, will convey a persona of timelessness, representing both how far the industry has come and all the potential yet ahead of us. We also want to depict how strong and reliable the industry is and will continue to be. We expect to fully unveil the new website and logo sometime in late July to early August.

As the Utah Trucking Association continues to improve its means of communication with their members please feel free to let me know, via the email and phone number listed below, if those efforts can be improved in any way or if you and your company have something you would like communicated to the membership as a whole.
