A new community resource, www.Pets4Life.com.au was launched at Willoughby Council on Tuesday evening 3rd December . Created by pet owner Cathy Beer , a Doggie Rescue Lifesaver , Pets4Life is a community resource for pet owners and those who are thinking of adding a dog or cat to the family. The goal is to reduce animal surrender in Australia.


Australians love their pets but when I adopted my doggie Rosie from Doggie Rescue in 2008, followed by Crunchie and Toby I discovered there is a dark side to pet ownership in Australia. I was appalled to learn that around 60,000 cats and dogs are euthanized every year in NSW alone, I wanted to do something about this.


So after three years of research into this issue, I created Pets4Life to help people to make good choices about


pet ownership. The Christmas/ New Year holidays are not a time of joy


but a time of crisis for rescue groups who are inundated with surrendered and abandoned animals. If you are thinking of adding a puppy or kitten to the family in the future, Cathy says


there are three steps to think about:


1. STOP before you shop – think carefully before you get a pet


2. SHOP wisely – make an informed decision


3. GIVE your pet a good life for I


its entire lifetime


The site is a great community resource for pet owners and those who are thinking of adding a cat or dog to the family. The aim is to help people to make wise decisions about pet ownership – and reduce animal surrender. The site has received very positive feedback and the facebook page is going well since it went live on 1st November.
