Stress Reduction Talks and Course in Bonita

tegrative Mindfulness, will give three free introductory talks on mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), an eight-week, evidence-based course in mindfulness meditation, gentle yoga and scientific research, at 10 a.m., December 13; 5:30 p.m., December 16; and 3 p.m., Decem-


ber 20, at Integrative Mindfulness, in Bonita Springs. The next series of classes in MBSR, pioneered by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, will begin on January 16, 2014, with evening and morning classes. MBSR can develop and strengthen an individual’s abili- ties to sleep, experience less automatic reactivity, decrease anxiety, listen and improve relationships, improve mood and be present for all of life’s moments.

Happehatchee Center Celebrates Women and Girls

he Happehatchee Center, in Estero, will celebrate the global


women’s movement and explore ways for working together locally and globally from 1 to 3 p.m., December 7. Proceeds from this Gather The Women and Circle Connections event will go to the center’s ongoing activities and the Grace Project. Highlights include a presentation by Ann Smith, group


singing led by Carlene Thissen, African native Nzela Queen Kyomo speaking on her plans for a women-to-women trip to Tanzania and a fashion show conducted by Gari Lewis, with garments from the U.S., Guatemala and Pakistan.
