Youngstown, Ohio. May 20, members of the Youngstown and Pittsburgh chapters met together for dinner at Cas- sese’s MVR Restaurant. Fol- lowing dinner, the group traveled to Stambaugh Audi- toriumfor a demonstration of the auditorium’s newly re- stored E.M. Skinner organ by Richard Konzen, who played music of Elgar, Howells, J.S. Bach, Yon, and Guilmant. Following the program, the Youngstown Chapter held its annual meeting in the audito- rium lobby, and members of the Pittsburgh Chapter en- joyed open console with the opportunity to play and ex- plore the E.M. Skinner. Youngstown Chapter elec- tion results for the coming year are Tim Elder (dean), Adam Zagotti (sub-dean), Gary Richards (secretary), Nancy Brescia (treasurer), and Mary Ann Bilas Bush and Anthony Ruggiero (exec- utive committee, Class of 2016). —Gary P. REGION VI—NORTH CENTRAL Arrowhead, Minn. April 27, the chapter (covering north- ern Minnesota and northern Wiisconsin) held its scholar- ship participant recital dur- ing the annual “Pedals, Pipes & Pizza” organ crawl. Visits were made to three churches and their organs. Participants played each organ and at- tended four workshops cov- ering such topics as pedal technique, organbuilding, and playing techniques. Pizza was served to approxi- mately 40 attendees. —Sherri Puckett


Greater Kansas City, Mo./ Kans. May 5, the 34rd annual Bachathon was held at Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Cathedral of Kansas City (John Schaefer, canon musi- cian). Bachathon chair for 2013was former dean Dale E. Ramsey.Newly joining Bacha- thon in 2013 were two per- formers of international recognition: Kansas City gui- tarist Beau Bledsoe, who per- formed solo guitar arrange- ments of Bach’s works; and

pianist Kairy Koshoeva, a na- tive of Kyrgyzstan presently teaching at Rockhurst Uni- versity in Kansas City, Mo., who performed the Goldberg Variations. Bledsoe was joined for some of his selec- tions by cellist Trilla Ray- Carter from William Jewell College. Isadora Comens, John Frank, and Zophia Far- ley are three students of Beth Titterington’s Kansas City Talent Education Youth String Players. Comens per- formed unaccompanied. John Frank and Zophia Farley were each accompanied by harpsichordist Rebecca Bell. TheChapterMarionette Crew again made an appearance, assisted by Roseanne Penner Kaufman, who provided ap- propriate flourishes on the cathedral’s Gabriel Kney or- gan.Voices and manipulators for 2013 included Boyd Ahr- ens, Lynn Bratney, John Davies, Mary Davis, Barbara Eichenberger, Norm Kin- naugh, Mike Maiden, Ray Smith, Nancy Stankiewicz, Chloe Stodt, and Bruce Thur- man. Organists included Bar- bara Adler, Mark Paiser (stu- dent of James Higdon at the University of Kansas), Karen Engebretsen, Song Yi Park (DMA candidate at the Uni- versity of Kansas), Yoomi Chang (DMA student of James Higdon at the Univer- sity of Kansas), and Jan Kray- bill. Bachathon for 2013 was pleased to welcome the re- turn of the chapter’s Schola Cantorum (Anthony Magli- one, conductor; Evan Court- ney, assistant conductor; Mark Langdon, organist). The Kansas City Baroque Consor- tium (Trilla Ray-Carter, di- rector) provided the instru- mental accompaniment. Evan Courtney directed Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden (BWV 230), and Anthony Maglione conducted the Ascension Or- atorio (BWV 11). Soloists for the Schola Cantorum were soprano Sarah Tannerhill- Anderson, countertenor Jay Carter, tenor Mitchell Staf- ford, and bass Ben Donnelly- Strait.
