SIGNATURE DISH Finding Dartmouth’s Best Home Cooks

!

ROYAL AVENUE GARDENS At Dartmouth Food Festival, it’s not all about the professional chefs. This year we all also want to find out who does great cooking at home. A series of three daily competitions have been devised with the help of Paul Greenfield and Alan Price, who many of you will know from their Home Interiors Shop, Signature of Dartmouth. Before, this they ran the ‘Embankment Restaurant’ (Now Annabelle’s Kitchen), so they certainly know their onions and will be helping to judge your produce with a daily guest chef. Entry is simple; bring your produce along on the day. Signature of Dartmouth have offered lovely prizes for each day’s winner.

FRIDAY 25TH OCTOBER

THIS YEAR’S CHUTNEY

Rules:

We’re after the best jar of homemade chutney made from this year’s harvest of our amazing local fruit – apple, damson, plum, pear, rhubarb, or something foraged but sorry no bananas, limes or mangoes! Spicey or mellow, whatever you prefer – we just want the one that tickles the most tastebuds.

11am- 1pm

Bring your jar of homemade chutney to the judging table in the Coast & Country Marquee in Royal Avenue Gardens. Remember to label them with the flavour and your name and mobile phone number.

SATURDAY 26TH OCTOBER

DARTMOUTH’S BEST PASTY

We love a pasty and we’re looking for your finest – crisp pastry with a good bake and packed with a traditional juicy filling of beef, potatoes and swede. If you think yours cuts the mustard, bring it along and see if yours is truly a champion pasty. Devon crimp only, of course.

SUNDAY 27TH OCTOBER

A FOOD FESTIVAL CAKE

We want to find the best cake baker in town. Sponge, chocolate, carrot or fruity, we don’t really mind. Put your thinking caps on and create a luscious show stopper that reflects Dartmouth Food Festival – heavenly flavours, delicate of crumb and beautifully decorated. We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with.

Bring your homemade, traditional pasty to the judging table in the Coast & Country Marquee in Royal Avenue Gardens. Remember to label it with your name and mobile phone number.
