“Lighting the Way” 5K/10K on Oct. 26 Supports SA Lighthouse for the Blind

oosevelt Park is the location for 8-year-old Weston Wright’s 5th Annual “Lighting the Way” 5K/10K Run Walk on Oct. 26. The 5K course will travel through Concepcion Park and the 10K will wind along the Mission Reach Trail. All proceeds will benefit the Blind Children’s Education Program, a new program provided by the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind. Races will start at 8 a.m. The San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind provides rehabilitation services
and employment opportunities that enable blind and visually impaired individuals to live high-quality, independent lives.

Victims of Domestic Violence 5K Run/Walk Supports Battered Women and Children’s Shelter
O
ne in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. You can take a stand against domestic violence and provide support for local agencies helping victims of domestic violence by participating in San Antonio’s first-ever Purple Run on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Eilan Hotel, 17101 La Cantera Pkwy. Family Violence Prevention Services, which supports the Battered Woman and Children’s Shelter
of Bexar County, is the event’s beneficiary. The 5K Run/Walk event begins at 8 a.m. The Battered Women and Children’s Shelter of Bexar County has worked for
37 years to break the cycle of family violence by providing life-saving resources to victims that enable them to rebuild their lives and return to self-sufficiency.
