South London Healthcare NHS Trust
Give yourself and your baby a healthy start to pregnancy and birth...
South London Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest providers of maternity services in England. With a full range of birth choice options, as well as specialist services for those who require additional support, the Trust supports over 11,000 women every year.
The staff at South London Healthcare NHS Trust’s Maternity Team are there to make you feel comfortable, supported and confident at every stage of your pregnancy and birth.
Their ongoing commitment and professional dedication is highlighted by impressive statistics for breastfeeding and normal birth rates. They provide support in a number of specialist areas including screening, diabetes during pregnancy, twins, mental health & wellbeing and a high number of natural births from women who had previously had caesarean sections.
Whether this is your first pregnancy or you are expecting a further addition to your family, you may sometimes be unsure or
overwhelmed by all the information you have to take in, people you meet and decisions that need to be made.
You can choose to have your baby with South London Healthcare NHS Trust through your midwife, at any of our community or hospital clinics, or through your GP. They aim to inform you of your first antenatal appointment date within 2 weeks of hearing from you or your GP. You can contact them direct on 07787 841986 to directly refer your care.
It is extremely important to have a midwifery booking appointment early in pregnancy – ideally, by 10 weeks. By booking early, you are giving yourself and your baby a healthy start to pregnancy and birth.

Flu vaccine for pregnant women... P
regnant women are at increased risk of complications if they contract seasonal flu – it’s better to take steps to prevent it. The Department of Health has recommended that all pregnant women receive the seasonal flu vaccine during October to January.
A review of research done on the safety of flu vaccine in pregnancy shows that the
Small Steps 2
vaccine is safe for you and your baby and will also protect your baby during the first few months of their life. Your midwife will give you information at
your first antenatal appointment or contact her to discuss the flu vaccine.
