Abducted Nurse Resting at Home; Princeton Baptist to Increase Security, Hospital Says
The 28-year-old nurse who was abducted from the Princeton Baptist Medical Center parking lot is resting comfortably at home and has expressed her support for the hospital's security protocols. The hospital's staff is grateful for the safe resolution of the abduc- tion, which was a rare occurrence at Princeton. "Safety for patients, families, visitors, volunteers and employees always has and always will be a top priority for Baptist Health System," a statement from the hospital says. "Even with the presence of highly trained security officers, the 24/7 availability of security escorts, a wide network of video surveillance, and other measures in place, this incident occurred and is a strong reminder to all of us." An unknown, armed black male abducted the pregnant nurse as she walked to her car in the hospital parking lot and forced her to drive to several ATMs to withdraw money. The woman got free unharmed and reported the incident. Investigators are conducting an investigation to the kidnapping and robbery. A 30-year-old male suspect has been arrested but has not been charged. The hospital continues to assess security needs and update technology. More escorts will be provided as a heightened security measure.
