Eilan Hosts Healthy Living, Healthy Planet Expo on Oct. 6

he beautiful new Eilan community off IH-10 in north
central San Antonio will host the Spectacular Southwest Healthy Living, Healthy Planet Expo on Sunday, Oct. 6. The broad focus on health and wellness and on green, sustainable living will provide residents across the state a one-stop educational immersion, an opportunity to explore a wide variety of ways to improve their health and the health of our planet. The event will be free and open to the public. “This event grew from a desire to bring together the community of health-focused, green-focused practitioners, businesses and public entities with the larger community of citizens throughout the region,” says Joel Shuler, publisher of Natural Awakenings San Antonio, which is co-hosting the event with Eilan, Juicer Heroes and Elevate Life. “The best connections and greatest impressions usually happen face-to-face, so an event like this helps make those interactions happen.” The Expo will take place in conjunction with the weekly Ripe! Farmers Market at Eilan.

Opens in San Antonio Provides Brain-Based, Drug-Free Help for Kids

Loop 1604 East to provide families a “brain-based, not a drug-based” option to address many learning and behavioral challenges. “We focus on the root causes, on identifying the weaker, delayed side
of the two hemispheres of the brain and on creating a customized program designed to strengthen the weaker side and bring both sides into balance,” says Dr. Petter. The starting point is a comprehensive assessment that examines sensory and auditory processing, core strength, spatial awareness, socialization, fine and gross motor skills, cognition and other areas of physical and cognitive development. The Brain Balance approach, perfected by Dr. Robert Melillo, focuses on “functional disconnection” that happens when the two halves of the brain are not processing information correctly. Brain Balance Centers focus on correcting these processing issues by combining physical and cognitive exercises with nutritional and dietary changes.
