Have you ever had a dream and wondered what it was REALLY trying to tell you? Did you try to understand it by looking it up in a dream book?

Yes, anyone can look up sym- bols and events in any book that claims to be the “absolute authority.” But are you really convinced that looking stuff up in a book clearly and com- pletely analyzes, interprets and explains the deeply pro- found meaning of your own dreams?

Your dreams can help you see issues in your everyday life, your work, your relation- ships and your personal growth from new and fresh perspectives, and help you solve problems and make decisions.

Dreams reveal our deepest self. We generally dream about five times every night.

Not all dreams have deep or profound messages to convey. Sometimes they simply review events, so you can process the information and give your subconscious an opportunity to file away the information or help you find ways to deal with it.

Dreams do not necessarily foretell the future. They can, however, help you weigh the possible solutions or options available to you in any given situation, and help you make your decision concerning the action you should take, if any.

Every image that appears in our dreams has a meaning, but very often they mean different things to each indi- vidual. No two dreams are alike, even if they have the same basic ingredients such as flying, talking or visiting with people who have passed on.

Dream symbols and messages can also have different meanings for the same person at different times in his or her life, or as it relates to specific events, symbols or conditions.

First, the moment you are awake, without changing the position in which you awake, review your dream. Then write down every tiny detail you can remember about it. Was it scary? Pleasant? Are you expecting an event – maybe an upcoming wedding, birth or job change? Have you had traumatic events in your life, as far back into your childhood as you can remember? Have you experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse? Are you acquainted with the peo- ple, places and events in your dream?

Werethe people in your dream male or female? Were they smil- ing, frowning, or did they have no particular facial expression? Did they speak to you? Was their clothing from any specific his- torical period? What colors were their clothes? What other colors were in your dream? Was there any movement in your dream? What or who moved, for what reason, and in what direction?

What was the season? Did you actually feel the sensation of

being hot or cold? Were you given any numbers that just simply appeared or that you feel were connected to the dream in any way? Have you had two or more dreams that were in any way related to each other, even in tiny, unremarkable ways?

Be sure to record every tiny detail you can remember. Give yourself a 24-hour period to allow details you don’t remember immediately to resurface. When they do come back, be sure to add them to your list right away, before they disappear again.
