School of Life Project ‘School of Life’ Intergenerational Project

Northampton Volunteering Centre (NVC) is looking for individuals to take part in the ‘School of Life’ project. The project aims to bring younger (under 25) and older people (50+) together to promote better understanding between the generations through the mutual sharing of skills.

Tea Dance Northampton Volunteering Centre in partnership with Northampton Leisure Trust will be putting on a Tea Dance in September 2013 as part of the ‘School of Life’ project.

Meet friends - both old and new, enjoy the uplifting sounds of yesteryear and teach the younger generation some new dance steps!

This activity is free to attend and refreshments will be provided. (September – date to be confirmed but will be held in Northampton).

What’s Cooking….? Helping the younger generation develop cooking skills The diet and health of a person will not change significantly unless they are taught the basic skills to cook tasty meals from fresh ingredients and can make a connection between health messages, where food comes from and what they are eating.

Often parents have pressures from work etc. to always be able to cook meals from scratch or teach their children how to cook. They may not have even been taught themselves….

Cooking is one of the most important things a person can ever learn. Once someone has that knowledge - they’re set for life.

Could you share some of your cooking skills with a younger person? This activity is free and all cooking ingredients will be provided. We are looking to start the classes in September. As requested – it’s back!!

African Drumming workshop Would you like to learn something different? Join us in this fun and interactive drumming workshop! No experience is required! Date and venue to be confirmed.

“What an amazing experience - It was fantastic and apart from very sore hands, really fired up my enthusiasm for more of the same.” Pamela T All the above activities are free to take part in.
